Introductory Note:
In the last issue of the Christian Life magazine, we did acknowledge that we knew of some 12 High School and College Graduates in our parish.
We were in possession, at that time, of information (biographies and pictures) of only 8 of them. Now, it gives us the pleasure of presenting the biographies of the following graduates as they were presented to our office:
1. Olivia Raluca Vamosiu
Hello, my name is Olivia Raluca Vamosiu. I was born in Bucharest Romania , on March 18, 1980. My parents are RDA and Janice Vamoose. For elementary school I went to Pinecrest in Van Nuys. My Junior High years were spent at Valley school in Van Nuys.
For High School I went to Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks. In High School I was on the Varsity Swim Team all four years and the captain senior year. I also was on Varsity Tennis for 9th and 10th grade. While playing sports in school I also swam everyday on a club swim team at Pierce College. Practice is everyday for 2 1/2 hours. I still swim to this day since I would like to continue it in college. I graduated with Maxima Cum Laude. I have also received many awards for academics.
As for college, I am attending U.C. Berkeley. I plan to major in Cell and Molecular Biology in Genetics. After this I hope to go to Medical School. As for the outcome of this hard work I would like to be an Orthopedic Surgeon.
I am very excited to begin this new part of my life. I know the work at U.C. Berkeley will be challenging, but I know I can do it.I will miss everyone, especially my parents 'whom I love dearly. I will miss all the good friends I have made at church through Sunday School and Bible Bowl. Good luck to everyone going to college and finishing High School. We'll share stories when we come back.
2. Ion Bobonea
My name is Ion Bobonea and I am 18 years old. I recently graduated from South Pasadena High School. I have also attended Alhambra High School for the first half of my Freshman year, as well as Eagle Rock High School for a year until midway my Sophomore year. I transferred to South Pasadena. Where I enjoyed the last two years and a half of my high school career. Throughout high school. I was involved in various activities and received numerous awards. I was a two year varsity letterman in football, as well as a C.I.F. qualifier in my Senior year. I also played on the JV Soccer and JV Basketball teams. I also served as a volunteer during the summer of 1997 at the South Pasadena Public Library, I was part of the German, Computer, and Chess Clubs the past two years. I received numerous awards as a student and as an athlete. During the last two years, I maintained the highest grade point average on the Varsity Football team. I also received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.. signed by President Bill Clinton. I also received other awards from South Pasadena High School, such as Perfect Attendance and Overall Grade Point Average over 3.5 I graduated high school with an unweighted GPA of 3.92 (4.06 Weighted GPA), as well as having the fourth highest GPA in my senior class of 270, and being the highest ranked male in my class.
The next couple of years I will attend University of California, Los Angeles with a Business-Economics major. I plan on going to graduate school, most likely the Harvard Law School. I hope I will be as successful in college as I have been so far.
The past four years I attended the Holy Trinity Church and the Sunday School, as well as participating in the Bible Bowl Tournaments. I also participated in AROY and held the position of Parliamentarian. I would like to thank to my family, and to my fellow graduates, especially Florin and Gabriella, for all their help and support.
3. Rocky Barbeli
În rândul celor care au graduat de la High School, în aceasta vara, se numara si Rocky Barbeli, din Pasadena, fiul dnei Elena Barbeli.
Datorita multiplelor sale preocupari scolare si extra-scolare, nu am putut sa-l contactam recent pe Rocky sa obtinem o fotografie dela graduare, si o scurta biografie. Cu toate acestea, dorim ca evenimentul sa nu treaca neobservat, mai ales ca Rocky a fost activ în LAROY cu ceilalti colegi graduati, de aceea tinem sa-i uram înmiite succese la colegiu, si împlinirea tuturor dorintelor. 4. Victor Constantinescu
Although our intention was to present our readers only the High School Graduates, due to the extra-ordinary achievements of Victor Constantinescu, we would like to also acknowledge this young fellow and his successes.Victor is the son of sub-deacon Liviu George and Dr. Leliana Constantinescu of Glendale, California, active members of the Holy Trinity Church. Victor himself is an enrolled student in the Sunday School, a member of the Church's Bible Bawl team, representing the Church, in the California Tournament, and an Altar boy at both services: the Chapel's and the Church's.
At John Marshall Elementary School in Glendale, Victor was counted among "top five" students, among the 12 sixth graders who participated in the statewide California Math League Contest. Among other achievements, during the Spring semester of 1998, Victor received the Certificate Achievement Award for Excellent Academic Effort, The Mathematics League/Certificate of Merit Award, The Principal's Award, Student of the Month Award, etc. A very promising bright future for a special young man. Like parents, like son!
